Moving-image production is no longer restricted to filmmakers with privileged access to equipment, skills and budgets. Desktop digital filmmaking has given graphic designers, illustrators and new media artists the means to create moving image, giving rise to a new wave of cutting-edge work. Motion Blur examines the new generation of moving-image makers who are currently pushing the boundaries of motion graphics, broadcast design, digital film effects and animation. With a strong focus on graphic design and digitally-manipulated film, the book profiles and investigates the work of 28 cross-media artists from around the world. As well as screen grabs, the book uses interviews, photography, storyboards and sketches to explore the work and reveal the creative processes behind it. An accompanying DVD shows select film featured in the book.
